PUBLIC NOTICE: MPO Board Meeting on May 20, 2024

NOTIFICATION IS GIVEN that the Sarasota/Manatee MPO will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on May 20, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. (Note New Time) at the Double Tree by Hilton (Previously the Holiday Inn Sarasota Airport) 8009 15th Street East, Sarasota, Florida. Meeting Materials and information regarding technology and access will be posted to the MPO website at www.mympo.org on Friday, May 10, 2024.

PUBLIC COMMENT:
There are five (5) ways for the public to participate:

  1. In person at the MPO Board Meeting by filling out a comment card.
  2. Written comments will be accepted before, during, and after the meeting. All written comments will be included as part of the official public record of the meeting.   5. For those wishing to address members of the Sarasota/Manatee MPO Board directly, you are requested to provide a written request in advance. NOTIFICATION IS GIVEN that on May 13, 2024, the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m. and the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the MPO Office, 8100 15th Street East, Sarasota, Florida 34243.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Written comments filed with the MPO will be considered. Meeting materials and information regarding technology and access will be posted to the MPO website at www.mympo.org on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Draft Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) now Available for Public Review and Comment

The public review and comment period is NOW open for the DRAFT UPWP for FY 2024/2025 - 2025/2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, SARASOTA/MANATEE MPO (April 23, 2024) – The Sarasota/Manatee MPO invites you to review and comment on the DRAFT UPWP for FY 2024/2025 - 2025/2026. The document can be viewed and downloaded here: https://www.mympo.org/our-work/mpo-plans/upwp.

The Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) defines the studies, planning activities and budget needed to identify and evaluate transportation needs throughout Manatee and Sarasota Counties. In essence, the UPWP is a working budgetary document. Each task contains a description of work accomplished through the prior UPWP, the methodology that will be used in the upcoming years, the responsible agency, programmed budget, and funding sources. The MPO develops the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) biennially in accordance with the current Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) MPO Program Management Handbook. If you have any comments or questions, please let us know by 9:00AM on Monday, May 20, 2024, when the official public comment period closes.

Each year the Sarasota/Manatee MPO updates the 5 Year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The new Draft TIP for FY 2024/25—2028/29 is now available for public review and comment.

If you would like to download the TIP, please visit the TIP page on the MPO Website by following this link: https://www.mympo.org/our-work/mpo-plans/tip.

Background: The process to develop the 2024/25-2028/29 TIP started on March 27, 2023, when the MPO Board adopted its 2023 Project Priority List. That list was forwarded to FDOT to prepare its Draft Tentative Five-Year Work Program which includes roadway improvements, transportation alternatives, bridge, safety, and public transportation projects (i.e. transit, aviation, port, intermodal, and transportation disadvantaged program projects).

The TIP will be presented at upcoming committee meetings on May 13th and will be presented to the MPO Board at their next MPO Board meeting on May 20, 2024. The TIP must be submitted to FDOT by July 15, 2024.

PUBLIC NOTICE: DRAFT 2024 Public Participation Plan now Available for Public Review and Comment

45-day public review and comment period is NOW open for the Draft 2024 Public Participation Plan (PPP)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, SARASOTA/MANATEE (April 4, 2024) - The Sarasota/Manatee MPO wants everyone to contribute to the DRAFT 2024 Public Participation Plan (PPP). The document can be downloaded here: https://www.mympo.org/our-work/mpo-plans/ppp.

The PPP is the guide to involving the public in the MPO transportation planning process, major documents, projects, and programs. Every three years, MPO staff evaluates the public participation techniques and strategies laid out in the Public Participation Plan (PPP). Afterwards, the PPP is updated to incorporate the findings from the evaluation. The MPO wants to hear your input on the updated DRAFT PPP. If you have any comments or questions, please let us know by 9:00AM on Monday, May 20, 2024, when the official 45-day comment period closes. Here are four ways for the public to comment on the PPP:
