Thank You!

On behalf of the Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit Partners, Sarasota/Manatee MPO, and our Sponsors: APA Suncoast, PublicInput.com, StreetLight Data, TBARTA, and ELEMENT Engineering we want to thank you for attending the 3rd Annual Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit on November 16 – 19, 2020.

Thank You!

We hope that you found this year’s Summit informative and empowering. The primary goal of this Summit was to encourage, educate, and celebrate the successes while sharing best practices for Complete Streets and Vision Zero across the Gulf Coast Region by bringing together citizens, locals, state, and federal partners. We ask you that you reflect on accomplishments and successes to make sure that every step we take is to ensure that our communities have safe, equitable, and accessible modes of transportation.

We believe that our diverse and dynamic group of speakers and panelists provided in-depth insight, as well as, actionable and practical tools that have worked in our Region as well as the Nation; and were able to share how Safe Roads for All Modes, Complete Streets, and Vision Zero are attainable.

Your presence helped to make this event a great success and your enthusiasm and positive spirit helped make our time together both productive and fun. We wish you all the best and hope that you continue to be engaged with the Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit. Stay tuned for next year’s Summit hosted by Forward Pinellas and upcoming event dates!

Sarasota/Manatee Mobility Week

mobility_week_main_banner

On September 21, 2020, the Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) proclaimed the week of October 30 through November 6, 2020 as Mobility Week.

What is Mobility Week?

Mobility Week is a statewide celebration of making smart, efficient, and safe transportation choices. Mobility Week, counties, cities, and transportation agencies host events to promote safe and sustainable transportation choices.

What happens during Mobility Week?

Mobility Week is an ideal time for counties, cities, and transportation agencies to highlight transportation achievements, roll out new initiatives and/or implement new policies; and

It is also an opportunity for individuals to explore the various transportation choices available to them and think about how multi modal transportation reduces traffic congestion, benefits the environment, and improves community health.

Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit

The 3rd annual Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit (GCSSS) will be held virtually for the first time. The Summit is a collaborative effort between the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and six metropolitan planning organizations: Forward Pinellas, Hernando/Citrus MPO, Hillsborough MPO, Pasco MPO, Polk TPO, and the Sarasota/Manatee MPO.

The Summit is an educational event that brings together national speakers, public officials, technical staff, sister counties, and community partners to elevate our efforts on how to design and implement safe and equitable transportation facilities for all modes of transportation. Registrations opens September 28, 2020. For more information about the Summit visit: https://www.gulfcoastsafestreetssummit.org/.

Love to Ride Florida

FDOT invites you to take part in the Love to Ride Florida challenge, which will kick-off on October 30, the first day of Mobility Week, and run through the month of November. Participants can earn points by riding and encouraging others to ride, too. Ride anywhere, anytime, to earn points and enter the drawings for prizes and more. You can participate as part of a team or as an individual. For more information visit: https://www.fdot.gov/projects/mobilityweek/bikechallenge2020.shtm.
