As a safety measure against the spread of COVID-19 and with concern for the safety of our members, attendees and staff, the Sarasota/Manatee MPO has decided to move the 3rd Annual Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit (GCSSS) 2020 to a virtual event. This educational event focuses on how to design and implement safe and equitable transportation facilities for all modes.

The Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit presentation portal is live! Traditional and COVID-19 related presentation proposals are due by September 18, 2020, 11:59 PM ET.

10th Avenue Complete Streets Study Public Information Meeting

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is holding a Public Meeting for the 10th Avenue Complete Streets Study from Riverside Drive to 17th Street West, in Manatee County. We invite you to attend the meeting anytime between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Woman’s Club of Palmetto, 910 6th Street West, Palmetto, Florida 34221. We’ve included a project location map with the meeting location below for your reference.

The meeting will be an open house format. Attendees may review project displays, aerial photographs, and speak one-on-one with project team members about the proposed complete streets improvements to 10th Avenue, such as narrower travel lanes, wider sidewalks, bicycle lanes, enhanced transit stops, reconfigured on-street parking, traffic calming measures and storm water control.

FDOT is sending notices to all property owners at least 300 feet on either side of the 10th Avenue project limits and other interested parties. FDOT welcomes and appreciates the community’s participation in the project. The meeting gives everyone an opportunity to express their views about the proposed complete streets improvements. The property owner notification is attached for your information.

The meeting is developed in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes. FDOT solicits public participation without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. §327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2016 and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and FDOT.
