SR 64 at Greyhawk Public Hearing
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, will hold a public hearing about an interim safety improvement at the State Road (SR) 64 and Greyhawk Boulevard/Pope Road intersection in Manatee County, Florida.
The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Bayside Community Church located at 15800 SR 64 in Bradenton, Florida, 34212. The meeting will begin with an open house at 5 p.m., followed by a formal public hearing at 6 p.m. This hearing will be regarding the temporary median modification that has recently taken place.
FDOT has constructed an interim improvement at the intersection of SR 64 and Greyhawk Boulevard/Pope Road with a continued focus on safety. The interim improvement consists of closing the westbound left turn from SR 64 onto Pope Road using temporary devices until construction of the ultimate improvement of a modern roundabout begins. FDOT and Manatee County have advanced the schedule for the roundabout previously set for 2023 to now begin construction in the spring of 2020.
The public hearing will give interested parties the opportunity to view plans, display boards with design overlays, ask questions, and provide comments to FDOT representatives. The formal public hearing begins at 6 p.m. A hearing moderator will offer introductory remarks and a slide presentation will follow, describing the project. People can sign up to make oral comments prior to the presentation, or during the hearing intermission. A court reporter will be available to transcribe comments. Those who do not wish to speak publicly can submit written comments or make a statement directly to the court reporter.
FDOT representatives will be present to answer questions prior to and following the formal portion of the hearing. Interested parties may submit written comments at the hearing or at a later date to David Wheeler, P.E., CPM, FDOT Project Manager, 801 North Broadway Avenue, Bartow, FL 33830, or email at
FDOT solicits public participation without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status.
