Experience the Inaugural Roll & Stroll Sarasota during
Active Mobility Weekend from March 23 – 25
The Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is partnering with the City of Sarasota to host the Roll & Stroll Sarasota 2018 event on Saturday, March 24th from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Payne Park in Downtown Sarasota. Attendees will have opportunities for guided or self-directed walking and bicycling tours through Downtown Sarasota on three proposed route connections from The Legacy Trail Extension to the Barrier Island trail network.
Please join members of the greater Sarasota community to help build a connected regional trail system from Pinellas to Collier County. Everyone is invited to be a part of the inaugural Roll & Stroll Sarasota 2018 and have a voice in the location of the future regional trail route. You are encouraged to join the festivities at Payne Park, bring your friends, family, children, and neighbors, and experience a car-free way to live, work, and play. The community is invited to come by anytime or to register for a guided tour at www.mympo.org/roll-stroll-sarasota-2018
Roll & Stroll Sarasota 2018 is only the second event of the three-day Active Mobility Weekend happening March 23-25. This Active Mobility Weekend will kick off with a special Legacy Trail anniversary event on Friday, March 23 from 4pm to 6pm at Laurel Community Park in Nokomis. The Legacy Trail connects communities and provides a safe space for people of all ages and abilities to travel and play using safe, non-motorized alternatives. Join your fellow trail users and celebrate the most popular multi-use recreational trail in Florida. The weekend will finish strong with the annual Tour de Parks Bicycle Ride. Enjoy scenic bicycle rides of 20, 35 or 62 miles through a number of Sarasota County Parks.
Co-sponsors of the Active Mobility Weekend are The Trust for Public Land, Friends of The Legacy Trail, Sarasota Manatee Bicycle Club, Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, City of Sarasota, and Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization.
