City of Palmetto declares March 2015 Bike Month!

As MPO Public Transportation Planner Jim Van Pelt stated in his recent blog post, March is Florida Bike Month-- and the number of bicycle and pedestrian injuries and accidents in our two county region over the past several months has been alarming.

In order to bring attention to bicycle safety in Florida, the Sarasota/Manatee MPO's Bicycle, Pedestrian and Trails Advisory Committe (BPTAC)-- a broad coalition of local government agencies, citizen advocates, transportation engineers, bicycle enthusiasts, and others-- are working together to improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians who travel around our two county area.

We are proud to share that one of the local government agencies in our two-county region, the City of Palmetto, has proclaimed March 2015 as Bike Month in order to celebrate the important role of bicycling in the lives of millions of Floridians. Read the proclamation here
