Public Workshops

As the 2035 Transportation Plan comes into better focus to define needed mobility strategies and priorities for transportation funding, the Sarasota/Manatee MPO will be seeking your ideas, reactions and recommendations. The MPO is planning to hold public workshops in both Manatee and Sarasota Counties to obtain broad community input for how transportation can help support the region’s goals for economic vitality, personal mobility, community livability, and environmental sustainability.  These will be interactive workshops, with opportunities for you to mark up maps, identify priority projects, and suggest ways to fund roads, transit service and better bicycle and pedestrian connections.

The workshop dates, times and locations have not been scheduled, but they will likely be held in late spring of 2010, and will have a major influence on the plan presented to the MPO later next year for adoption. The workshops and plan are also building upon the series of focus group discussions that are currently underway this fall throughout the region. Please check back to this site, or better yet, sign up for the Plan Information Network, to receive timely advance notice of these workshops when they are scheduled.
