LEMON BAY/MYAKKA TRAIL

 

                             The Florida Scenic Highway Program and Lemon Bay/Myakka Trail 

The Lemon Bay/Myakka Trail follows the entire 25.5 miles of SR 776 with the corridor limits stretching between US 41 (SR 45) in Charlotte County and US 41 (SR 45) in Sarasota County. Two loop roads are also included in the Lemon Bay/Myakka Trail. The 16.8-mile Cape Haze Loop includes County Road (CR) 771/Gasparilla Road and CR 775/Placida Road. The 5.6-mile Old Englewood Loop includes CR 777/West Dearborn Street and Old Englewood Road. The total length of the Lemon Bay/Myakka Trail with its two loops is 47.9 miles. Where the term “the Trail” is used throughout this document, it refers to SR 776 and both loops.

The Lemon Bay/Myakka Trail contains a wide variety of diverse and exceptional intrinsic resources that represent Florida’s special history, sites and features that make the Lemon Bay/Myakka Trail extraordinary. These resources play an important role in the function and vitality of the Trail, providing a unique combination of recreational and educational activities.
